About PathItalia
Living in Italy means knowing a lot of rules — which document you need where, how a process actually works, when you have to pay and when you do not. The official pages exist and they are accurate, but they are in Italian, written in a register many people in our community cannot read. So most of us end up relying on whatever we are told by someone who sounds sure, and a confident wrong answer here costs a fine, a wasted attempt, or money paid for something that was free.
PathItalia is my attempt at the other thing: the same information, checked against its sources and written for the Bangladeshi community in Italy — in Bangla first, and in English and Italian for those of us who read one of those more easily. I am not an agent, not a patronato, not a driving school, and I do not sell services of any kind.
What this site is
Free guides, and free study tools for the driving theory exam. It started with the driving licence, because that is the question our community asks most; it now also covers opening a bank account in Bangladesh from Italy and the basics of work in Italy — being registered before you start, your payslip and INPS contributions, and why an employment agency may not charge you for finding you work. More subjects will follow, one at a time, each only once its facts are checked.
The one rule
If I have not checked something against its source, I do not write about it. Either it is verified and written properly, or the subject is left out — there is no guessing in between. Every figure is checked against an official source wherever one exists, and the source is linked at the bottom of the page, so you never have to take my word for anything.
Where a page rests on something other than the law or a ministry, it says so: a bank's own page for that bank's rules, the ministry's exam question bank for what the exam expects, price guides for what a driving school usually charges.
What this site is not
It is not a driving school, not an insurance broker, not a government service and not connected to any Italian public body. It cannot book your exam, file your paperwork or influence any result. Nobody can guarantee you a licence or the outcome of an application — if someone tells you they can, walk away.
Who I am
I'm A. Hossain. I've lived in Italy for three years, in the Rome area. I work as a freelance automation engineer — which is why this site has free study tools on it and not only articles.
I haven't sat the theory exam yet. I'm studying for it now, and the language is the reason it has taken me this long. I built this site because I kept seeing people pay money for bad information, and sometimes for bad service — and it is always somebody who can't afford it who pays.
